About :   James McKenna

Meet Your Copywriter/Producer

Broadly experienced and articulate, James McKenna has been producing happy clients for fifteen years. With ten years of agency experience, and another five as a freelancer, he is both well trained and adaptable.

Like some of the best writers, James has knocked around, learning how people of all kinds see the world. Though a natural writer, his professional writing career started after years of varied employment and a decade of university education. He brings to every project a rich knowledge of people and an intimate understanding of how language works.

Where's He Been?

In the mid nineties, James wrote for a Silicon Valley startup and a local Internet service provider before taking a job in '97 with an Internet-only agency. Facebook didn’t exist yet. Neither did google. In '98 he moved to a larger agency with a broader focus that was building its skills in online media.

Just before the Internet bubble burst in 2000, James moved to a traditional consumer advertising agency. With almost no production experience, he produced close to a dozen spots in his first year. He also concepted and wrote print, outdoor, direct mail, and more online advertising. Since leaving the agency world in 2008, James has continued to produce happy clients in a variety of industries and mediums.

Who's He Worked For?

Here are some of the national clients for whom James has concepted, written, and produced advertising and marketing of all kinds: US Bank, Roto-Rooter, Diners Club, Fazoli’s, Cintas, Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Broadwing, Check n Go, Procter & Gamble, Lexis-Nexis, The Berry Company, Thomson Multimedia (RCA), Omnicare.

What Can He Do for You?

In his professional career, James has written in every style for every audience. Speeches, national television spots, package copy, letters, full-page newspaper ads, Internet error pages, call-center scripts, direct-mail packages with funny things in them, industrial RFP responses, SEO copy, etc., etc., etc. You name it, James has written it. He asks the right questions, grasps even complex material easily, and quickly develops deep insight into his audience. Chances are, you’ll be very happy with whatever he writes for you.
