Getting corny in the cornfields of Nebraska
The last days of the Yellow Pages was the Wild West. Cities had two, three or more competing books. Differentiation was crucial. The Berry Company had books in many markets and worked hard to make them very local-friendly, not just dry listings.
They wanted funny, catchy radio to spread the word. I wrote many for them, but the best was “Parrot”. It was a hit in Lincoln, Nebraska. Love it or hate it, everyone remembered it.
Cook’s Notes
